Day 508 – Lost City Trek to Santa Marta

Last Day of the Lost City Trek

We were able to enjoy some extra sleep today. There were only a few hours of mainly downhill hiking from the accommodation, Cabana de Adan to the restaurant where we had lunch on the first day of hiking (Day 504).

After breakfast, our small group started the journey. Since we were down to one guide, the group spread out after a while. We regrouped at the OJ shop from the first day.

Before midday, we were back at the restaurant. We had to wait some time for lunch to be served, which was delicious as always. After lunch there was more waiting until the transport arrived.

Once the transport arrived, we drove an hour along the bumpy road inside the national park before we were back on paved roads. Our first stop was Palomino to drop off some other hiker. We weren’t going to stay at the beach town, but it did look nice.

Santa Marta

We were dropped off outside the travel agent office in Santa Marta. From here it was a short walk to Color Hostel, where we had left our back packs. The friendly staff showed us to our new room. After much needed showers, we were too tired to go out for dinner, so we ordered a medium pizza to be delivered. The pizza arrived in a timely manner and was at least the same size as a large back home.

Overall the Lost City Trek was amazing, but I think the price tag is hard to justify compared to the treks in Peru. That being said, it was an enjoyable experience, which we don’t regret doing.
