Day 507 – Lost City Trek

Fourth Day of the Lost City Trek

We woke up pretty late compared to the last few days. Since we were doing the 5 day trek, our return to the trail head would be spread over 2 days. The 4 day trekkers would be leaving all the way to the trail head and Sana Marta today.

The return journey was very easy and very short.

Well before 11am, we were back at Cabana de Adan, which was the accommodation we stayed at on the first night (Day 504). After a short rest here, the rest of the group left. Only 7 of us remained plus one guides. Unfortunately, everyone mainly kept to themselves.

There wasn’t much to do here besides swim at the nearby river. It was still amazing but cold, which meant we couldn’t spend all day in the water. By the end of the day, we were wishing that we had done the 4 day trek instead.

However, we did get another large lunch and dinner. We also found out why there was a heavy military presence along the trail. According to a Colombian tourist, there was an incident a few years ago with tourists getting kidnapped by militia.

Since there wasn’t much to do, we went to sleep very early.
