How to get to Te Henga Walkway
With most places in NZ, driving is best. The drive is ~36km West from Auckland and takes around 40 minutes.
Free parking is available near the Bethells Beach entrance. It’s easily done as a day trip.
What to do at Te Henga Walkway
The best thing to do is hike along the Te Henga Walkway. There are various points of interest from the Bethells Beach entrance, which is the southern entrance. We hiked to Raetahinga Point, which is 4km into the 10km hike to the Northern entrance at Constable Road. Just remember you need to come back to your car so don’t go too far unless you have time.
O’Neill Bay had a nice beach and caves to explore.
Across the road from the walkway is the Lake Wainamu Track, which is also worth going on.
The Mobile App, MAPS.ME is much better than Google Maps for its hiking trails along the Te Henga Walkway.
