Day 96 – Hong Kong to Siem Reap, CAMBODIA

Today we caught a bus to the airport saying goodbye to the excellent staff at the Mahjong Hostel. We also returned the Public Transport T-Money Cards back to the train station for a refund, which was easy to do.

A few hours later, our plane landed in a rainy runway in Cambodia. We then took the stairs down to the tarmac. The airport in Siem Reap is definitely a different world to the one we left in Hong Kong. That being said, the airport’s buildings had a cool (though similar to Thai Style) roof design.

We were surprised to see an ANZ ATM at the airport, which dispersed American Dollars. We got visa stamps from the immigration office, which took around 20-30 minutes, and then we proceeded to pick up our luggage.

Our hotel, The Golden Square Villa had arranged a tuk tuk to pick us up. Cambodia has an unique style of tuk tuk, where a motorbike is tied onto the back of a tuk tuk essentially. Is pretty cool.

We went to our nice hotel, which was a bit of a drive from the airport. Since it was dark and raining, we had a very cheap dinner at the hotel and settled down for the night.
