Day 57 – Kawaguchiko to Takayama

Today we walked to the Kawaguchiko Bus Station and got on our bus to Takayama, which is around 220km away. The bus we got was amazing, with comfortable seats, power and Wi-Fi. The bus stopped several times at service centres along the highways. The views from the mountainous roads was spectacular.

Once we arrived at our accommodation, Relax Hostel Takayama Station, we settled in quite nicely. The rooms were very nice, with a large lounge area. The rooms felt like what I imagine a first class plane ride should feel like.

We then walked down to the heritage town to check out the buildings. Takayama, is a small town that existed back in the Edo period. The town is known for its expert carpenters who did buildings all throughout Japan.

Our expedition was cut short due to the rain, but then we decided to have some sushi from a place called Sushi Nob. It was delicious, but a little on the small side for me.

The town has that small town charm. Most of the shops close relatively early, so we headed back to the hostel and planned the rest of our journey.
