Day 513 – Barranquilla
Lazy day around Barranquilla
Today we were able to enjoy a buffet breakfast at Wyndham Garden Barranquilla. We were super lazy, and only left the hotel at midday.
My wife wanted some new runners, so we walked back to Viva Centro Comercial. Over our travels, a lot of European travellers had recommended a French store called Decathlon. It is essentially ALDI for sports equipment. Most of the items were of decent quality and cheap. They also had a wide range of sporting and outdoor goods.
While we were shopping, my cousin came to hang out with us. We went to a different shopping centre called Buena Vista 3. Again the shopping centre was beautifully decorated. The food court was massive with plenty of choice. We ended up having delicious poke bowls from a restaurant called Poke as we chatted.
After an extended lunch, we walked together to Viva Centro Comercial and agreed to catch up later that night for an ex-pat meet and greet that he was going to. We had agreed to meet at 7pm, but after no contact from him until 8.30pm we got worried. But we had no idea what to do. Turns out he had fallen asleep and had to catch up on some work, so he bailed on us.
Therefore, we headed back to Viva Centro Comercial. Here we found a Japanese restaurant called Teriyaki. The waitress was friendly and interested to know about us, which was cool. The food was delicious, but serving sizes were small.
