Day 501 – Minca to Santa Marta

Return to Santa Marta

Today we had some leftover pizza for breakfast at Finca Hostal Bolivar’s Casa Maracuya. After chatting to the staff for an extended period of time, we said our good byes for the final time. We also decided to visit Mision Gaia to say goodbye to our Spanish teacher. It was all very sad.

The small town was full of life today with the “main” road congested with traffic. We went to the colectivo station at midday and were able to get into a full colectivo that was just about to leave.

Santa Marta

From the terminal in Santa Marta we walked to our wedding anniversary treat hotel, which was very close to the walking streets in Santa Marta. The accommodation was called Casa Mia Boutique Hotel. Our anniversary was actually a few days ago but we thought a delayed treat is better than none at all.

The hotel looked nice but we could only drop off our bags as the room wasn’t ready. Therefore we headed out for some errands and to eat lunch. A highlight was definitely our afternoon snack at the popular restaurant, Lulo. The deserts were tiny but delicious.

After dessert, we were able to check into our luxurious room. The hotel had upgraded us into a triple room (we booked a double room), which was very spacious. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was large. We were super happy with our anniversary treat.

At dinner time, we ventured out to find the walking street packed with people. We never saw these crowds when we were here a few months ago. We had a nice dinner at a restaurant along the walking street before heading back to chill at the hotel.
