Day 485 – 486 – Minca
Weekend Vibes
Saturday
After another week of studying Spanish, we wanted to relax a little over the weekend. We had to do some laundry so we found a place close to the church, which was advertising a cheap price per kilo. Unfortunately, their scale showed 8kg. We know its typically between 5-6kg. In the end we gave it to our hostel, who charged us for 5kg.
Later we went to Museo del Cacao (Cacao Museum), which had two small rooms. One room was a small exhibit with nothing I found interesting and the other room was a store. I was disappointed.

We had lunch at a restaurant, which was empty. The food and staff were very disappointing.
Finally I can write about something good. Museo Minca (Minca Museum) was an interesting experience. There are some photos on the wall and the curator explains the story behind them. The storytelling is optional (tip based) but a requirement for the proper experience in my opinion.
It was a real eye opener to learn that only a few years ago, Colombia was essentially in a civil war. It’s a worthwhile experience. At the end a backpacker arrived selling brownies. We thought it would be the perfect way to end the museum but the brownie was horrible.
In the afternoon, we went to relax in the river with some beers to wash the brownie taste. The water is not too deep, resulting in plenty of places to comfortably sit down, if you can handle the cold water.
Sunday
On Sunday, we spent the day relaxing and studying. My beautiful wife was somehow able to make some delicious iced coffee.

Dinner was at the nice Italian restaurant, Restaurante Santisabella. A medium pizza was the equivalent to a large pizza back home, and the lasagna was also delicious.
It’s almost Christmas
