Day 48 – Part 1 – Bangkok

Today we woke up early and had to pack our bags so we could go to the airport. Since we had sent some items back to Melbourne with our friends (thanks again), we thought packing would be easier. WRONG! Even without those excess items the bags still felt full.

The mess mid packing.

Since 4J Lodge was hard to access and we were so close to the Khao San Road area, which is always busy, we walked there and attempted to get a taxi. We also wanted a metered taxi which made things more interesting. The 3rd taxi that stopped for us agreed to take us with the meter. The first two refused especially as we were not going to the main airport, Suvarnabhumi. Our flight was from the old airport Don Mueang.

Don Mueang airport is apparently one of the oldest operational airports in Asia. That being said the airport was still massive and had a small selection of shops to eat from. We ended up eating at a Nandos rip off, called Piri Piri and buying some sandwiches for the plane.

We boarded the Air Asia flight ready for our next adventure!
