Day 472 – Minca
Finca Views
Today we woke up at Finca Hostel Bolivar to another beautiful day. We started the day by chatting to the German couple from the dorm. Then we headed to the modern cafe, Caficosta for a simple lunch. The chocolate croissant was average and the drinks weren’t to our taste. It was disappointing since interior was really nice.
Finca San Rafael Coffee and Chocolate Farm
Afterwards, we decided to visit Finca San Rafael Coffee and Chocolate Farm. The farm is a little way out of town and unfortunately uphill. On the plus side, the path is under shade in certain parts. It took us just over 30 minutes to walk to the finca.
No idea what these are… …but there were heaps along the way.
We had been recommended the tour by several people at the hostel. However there weren’t any English tours running today. The staff member was really friendly, inviting us to have hot chocolate. It was the traditional chocolate, which is typically a dark variety. There was a nice area to sit down and bird watch. The colibri (hummingbirds) were the main draw card for me.
The staff member kept trying to convince us to do a Spanish tour where he would talk really slowly, but we refused. We did pay a small tip for the drinks before leaving the sitting area. The tour is actually optional, as we walked through the farm to a viewpoint by ourselves. It’s supposed to be the perfect spot at sunset, but we really didn’t want to walk back in the dark so we left before sunset.
Back in Minca
Back in Minca, we paid for our Spanish classes at CREA, which is an initiative by Mission Gaia. We would be starting our classes tomorrow for the next 5 days. On the way back to our hostel, we had some meat and potato balls (Papas Rellenas in Spanish) that were delicious!
Later that night we lost power at the hostel. After a quick message to the owner he came and turned on a generator so we had some power.

I do agree with all of the ideas you’ve presented in your post. They are very convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are too short for beginners. Could you please extend them a bit from next time? Thanks for the post.
