Day 364 – Cancun to Lima, PERU
Today was our last day in Mexico. Our hosts at La Casa del Arbol allowed us to stay in the hostel until we had to leave later in the afternoon at 3pm. We decided to have lunch at Casa de Nana, which is a nice local restaurant. The taco combos are amazing.
From the restaurants, we walked to what we thought was a small market. It turns out we were in a massive market called Mercado 28. Since I was wearing my Pittsburgh Pirates baseball cap, people kept trying to sell me baseball merchandise. The market has lots of cheap souvenirs, that we bought for family back home.
Later on, we walked with our backpacks to the ADO bus station, where we purchased tickets to the Cancun Airport. Tickets cost 98 MXN ($7.45 AUD) per person for the bus departing at 3:30pm. The bus arrived on time. As we got on, the attendant asked, which country we are flying to. I said Peru, with my Aussie accent. He had no idea, what I was saying. I had to spell it out for him to understand where we were going!
We got off the bus at Terminal 2 at Cancun Airport just after 4pm. At the check in counter for Interjet, we had to wait for over an hour. Once we got to the front of the line, the staff member was really nice and we had no dramas. We had dinner at Johnny Rockets, where we used up all our remaining pesos and we able to pay the excess with our debit card.
The boarding time was delayed by 15 minutes. After we sat on the plane, there were a few announcements in Spanish saying that the plane is delayed. After half an hour of time, the other passengers started “booing” the attendant as soon as they started doing another announcement. It was hilarious to watch!
The plane was delayed around 1 hour in total. We fell asleep during the flight…
