Day 33 – Sukhothai
Today was a really quite day where we could recover from yesterday’s walking.
Ramkhamhaeng National Museum
First we went to the Ramkhamhaeng National Museum, which exhibits lots of various ancient statues, pottery, jewels and other excavated artefacts from around Thailand. It also has complete 3D map of the Historic Park which is very nice. It would have been good to go here before doing the Historic Park.
Wat Traphang Thong
Then we went to Wat Traphang Thong which is a small temple on an island. The bridge to the island attracts a lot of fish as people feed them so they follow you even when you don’t have food…like us. The Temple houses a large Buddha footprint.
Sukhothai Old Town Bus Stand
On the way home, we noticed a sign for a bus stop, which decided to investigate. Found out we could get a bus direct from here instead of going to New Town. We bought some tickets for tomorrow morning.
Sinvana Restaurant
Following two days of dinners from Sinvana Restaurant, we decided to start ordering dishes which weren’t the typical Thai food. Big mistake. The food was horrible, so if you go I recommend ordering the typical Thai food. They do that really well.
